1. How can I obtain a copy of a Police report?

Most police reports will be approved and available within five (5) business days after making the report. In order to obtain a copy of a police report, a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) form, or in some cases a subpoena may be necessary.

The FOIA form can be obtained at the Police Department Records Division by clicking on the FOIA Form link below. The completed form can be dropped off, mailed or faxed to the Police Department at (630) 980-9767. The Village of Roselle will reply to your request within five (5) business days.

There is no fee for the first 50 pages of a police report (15¢ per additional page, starting with page 51) and $5.00 for basic Traffic Crash Reports. Specialized reports and/or photographs (if releasable) have increased charges.

Requestors will be called when the report is ready for pick up and will be advised of the total amount of fees due. Copies of all reports requested, are picked up at the Police Department.

2. How can I obtain a copy of a traffic crash report?

Copies of basic Traffic Crash reports can be requested at the Police Department Records Division or online using our DocView services (additional convenience fee may apply for DocView). There is a $5.00 charge for each copy.
In order to obtain a report without the use of a FOIA form, the requesting party must be either directly involved (Driver, Vehicle or Property owner) or an insurance co. representing a directly involved party. The report must also have been approved and closed before a copy can be issued. For further information, please contact the Police Department Records Division at (630) 671-4000.

3. Where do I go to pay a ticket?

Parking or Compliance Citations (P or C) may be paid online by following the Online Bill Pay link below. You may also pay citation fines at the Finance Department on the first floor of the Roselle Village Hall, 31 S. Prospect St. If Village Hall is closed, tickets may be dropped in the green payment box located in the circular drive in front of Village Hall. Moving violations in DuPage County must be paid at the DuPage County Circuit Clerk’s office at 505 N. County Farm Road, Wheaton, Illinois. 4. Where do I go to court if I received a ticket from a Roselle Police Officer?

The Village of Roselle is unique in that it is located in both DuPage and Cook Counties. Depending on the charge and where the arrest or traffic violation occurred, motorist may be required to go to court at Glendale Heights Field Court, the DuPage County Court House, or the Third Municipal District of Cook County.

5. How do I report a crime tip or if I see something suspicious in my neighborhood?

6. What are the regulations for overnight parking?

There is no on street parking allowed between the hours of 2:00 am and 5:00 am year round.

7. What if I have a parking emergency or other unusual circumstances?

Residents may call (630)980-2025 to request permission to park for one night. Permission is at the discretion of the on duty police supervisor and allowed only three occasions within a month. If an overnight snow fall is expected permission may be withheld or denied.

8. Are there street parking restrictions following a significant snowfall?

Street parking is prohibited any time after a 3-inch or more snowfall until the street has been plowed.

9. How do I obtain a commuter parking lot permit?

Permits are available from the Finance Department in the Village Hall. There are also daily fee lots available in and around the Metra Commuter Rail Station. Permits should be placed so they are visible from the exterior of the vehicle. Commuter Parking

10. Do I have to have a village vehicle sticker for my car?

All vehicles owned or stored within the Village of Roselle must display a valid village vehicle sticker. The sticker shall be fastened in a prominent and visible place on the lower right side of the front windshield of the vehicle. Vehicle licenses are sold at Village Hall. All tags must be displayed by June 1 and expire May 31 every year.

11. Can I register my bike in Roselle?

Yes, residents interested in registering their bikes can visit either the Police Records or Communications Center windows at the Roselle Police Department to obtain a bicycle registration form and sticker.

12. Do I need an animal license for my pet?

The Roselle Village Board abolished all pet licenses in 2002. This does not relieve the pet owner from obtaining the proper rabies vaccinations and vaccination tag from their respective county of residence. The tag is sold by the treating veterinarian at time of vaccination. Missing dogs may be identified by the county tag number; however the Police Department does have a microchip reader if a found dog has been implanted with the chip. 13. What is the curfew law in Roselle ?

Persons under the age of 17 may not be present in any public place between 12:01 am and 6:00 am on Saturday and Sunday and between 11:00 pm and 6:00 am Sunday through Thursday, unless married, accompanied by an adult, or engaged in employment, religious, political, or other constitutionally protected activity.

14. What is the speed limit on a residential street in Roselle ?

The speed limit on most residential streets, unless otherwise posted, is 25 MPH.

15. What is the loud noise ordinance in Roselle ?

Loud noise as defined by Roselle Village ordinance is any noise or sound that is considered harmful or otherwise disturbing to another. Violators may be subject to a fine between $75 and $500 and/or an appearance in local field court.

16. How do I request an officer to attend my homeowner’s association meeting?

You may request an officer attend a homeowner’s or other community meeting by contacting the Roselle Police Department Crime Prevention Office at (630) 671-4060.

17. What are the rules on door-to-door solicitors in Roselle?

Pursuant to court ruling across the country on freedoms of speech, the Roselle Village Board removed any permit or licensing requirement for door to door solicitors in 2002. However, there are still provisions in the ordinance that a solicitor must follow. A solicitor may not solicit at any residence displaying a “No Solicitors Invited” sign and must immediately leave the premises. A solicitor may only solicit during the hours of 9:00 am to 9:00 pm weekdays and 10:00 am to 6:00 pm weekends. Any resident observing a solicitor working outside of these requirements should call 9-1-1.
