Economic Development Coordinator
The Village of Roselle, IL, located in the northwest suburbs of Chicago (population 22,763), seeks highly professional candidates for the newly created, part-time Economic Development Coordinator position, which reports to the Community Development Director. This position is responsible for performing economic development, planning, marketing and research work to enhance the Village’s economic vitality through broadening and strengthening its retail, commercial, and manufacturing/industrial base. Responsibilities include recruiting new businesses and aiding existing businesses in retention and expansion efforts, assisting the Community Development Director with all aspects of economic development efforts, and handling the coordination of special projects related to economic development. Requirements: A Bachelor’s Degree in business administration, public administration, finance, urban planning, or a closely related field, including one to three years of experience in a significant economic development and planning administrative position is required. A Master’s Degree, Economic Developer Certification, or any equivalent combination of education, training or experience is strongly preferred.
The individual must possess a valid Illinois driver’s license. The position is for 24 hours per week primarily between the hours of 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Monday through Friday with some evening meetings required. The hourly pay range for the part-time position is $25.14-$35.13, depending on qualifications. The only benefit offered for this position is participation in an IMRF pension.
The Village of Roselle is accepting applications for the part-time, seasonal position of Engineering Intern. General duties include conducting field inspections, gathering field data, surveying, contractor oversight, and assisting with the maintaining daily project logs - all of which are related to various infrastructure maintenance and improvement projects. These projects may include storm sewer repairs, paving of streets, removal and replacement of sidewalk and curb/gutters, and water and sewer system improvements. This position will also assist with data collection for the Village’s Geographic Information System (GIS) and perform office engineering work, including scanning and filing of plans and other related duties as required.
The ideal candidate will be current
ly pursuing a degree in civil engineering and have completed at least two academic years of college coursework. Applicants must be at least 18 years of age and possess a valid Illinois driver’s license. Computer skills with Microsoft Word and Excel are required. Experience with Auto CAD and Microsoft Access and an interest in municipal, transportation and roadway infrastructures are preferred.
The hourly rate for this position is $11.00. This position is for 40 hours per week (8:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.) and limited to, but not guaranteed, a total of 560 hours. There may be an occasional need to start earlier than 8 a.m. and/or work past 4:30 p.m.
