Backflow Prevention Program

Overview
On November 10, 2014, the Village Board approved a program designed to provide financial and technical assistance to homeowners for the installation of some form of backflow prevention. The purpose of the program is to offset a portion of the expenses that homeowners may incur to improve the homeowner’s sanitary sewer system such that sewage cannot backflow into the basement when the Village’s sanitary sewer system is pressurized. Eligible homeowners may qualify for one of the following subsidies:

  • 50% of the costs of eligible improvements for external check valves up to a maximum reimbursement amount of $2,500.
  • 50% of the costs of eligible improvements for either an external flood control system or an overhead sewer system up to a maximum reimbursement amount of $5,000.
Homeowners interested in participating in this program are asked to carefully review information about the program before applying. If you have questions about this program, please call the Village’s Public Works Department at (630) 980-2020.
