Firefighters visit schools to teach students of various grade levels about aspects of fire safety. They introduce the children to firefighter gear and demonstrate how breathing thru an air mask changes a firefighters voice; they speak of the dangers of fire; the importance of working smoke detectors; planning an escape route in case of a fire; as well as preventing fires. School Visits must be arranged in advance.
Station Tours are also available for groups or individuals. Guided tours take you to the apparatus bay floor, training facilities, business offices, and "behind the scenes" of the firefighters' living quarters. Station Tours must also be arranged in advance.
