The Village of Roselle established a recycling program for its residents in 1990, in an effort to conserve landfill space and natural resources. Since that time, the recycling program and the types of materials accepted by our hauler have expanded tremendously. For a complete overview, please view the Recycling Program brochure (PDF) provided by Republic Services or the Village's Refuse Recycling Guide (PDF).
The Village of Roselle recycling program includes the following information:
- Carts are available in two sizes (95,65 gallon sizes).
- Residents who wish to change cart sizes should contact Republic Services at (847) 981-0091.
On occasions where extra or bulky material does not fit into the cart, place the items alongside the cart for manual pickup.
Changes to Curbside Recycling - 2018
Republic Services is asking residents to ensure that all materials placed in there recycling carts are always empty, clean, and dry. If there is doubt where and item belongs, it should be discarded in the garbage cart. Please see the Changes to Curbside Recycling page for details.
CFL Light Bulb Recycling Available at Village Hall
As part of the recycling program offered by Republic Services, residents may bring spent fluorescent bulbs to the lobby of Village Hall, 31 S. Prospect St., to be recycled. The following types of bulbs will be accepted in the CFL recycling bin at Village Hall: fluorescent bulbs, linear fluorescent bulbs (4’ and under), compact fluorescent bulbs, circular fluorescent bulbs, u-shaped fluorescent bulbs, HID bulbs (Metal Halide, HPS, LPS), and incandescent bulbs.
A law enacted in 2012 bans TVs, computers, laptops, keyboards, monitors, printers, peripherals, VCR/DVD players, gaming systems, MP3 players and other electronic items from Illinois landfills. The Village's waste hauler, Republic Services, is no longer picking up electronic waste at the curb. Visit the Electronics Recycling page for links to agencies accepting electronic waste for recycling.
