Special Events in Roselle Canceled Through End of Summer

Due to the COVID-19 crisis and in accordance with Governor Pritzker’s "Restore Illinois" plan, the Village of Roselle regretfully announces the cancellation of all upcoming special events for this summer. This cancellation notice includes the Independence Day Celebration scheduled for July 3, and the 39th Annual Taste of Roselle, sponsored by the Roselle Lions Club, scheduled for the first weekend in August.

This follows Mayor Maglio’s previous announcement about special event cancellations affecting the Rose Festival, Rose Parade, and Run for the Roses, scheduled for early June. A full list of event cancellations is available on the Village’s website.

During their May 11 meeting, the Village Board amended the original contract with the fireworks vendor for this year, Melrose Pyrotechnics, which was signed back in February. The new contract allows the Village to apply contractual cancellation fees as a down payment on the Village’s 2021 fireworks display. Party in the Park partner Mission Church, which annually sponsors the live entertainment before the fireworks show, is also committed to returning for the 2021 celebration.

The health and safety of Village of Roselle residents, employees, and visitors remains a top priority for Village officials and special event organizers in the community. Planning for future large-scale events in Roselle will depend on the status of the Governor’s "Restore Illinois" plan, which allows festivals and special events to resume during Phase 5 when COVID-19 testing and treatment are widely available throughout the state. More information about Restore Illinois can be found on the State’s website
