Public Works Manager - Wastewater

The Village of Roselle, Illinois (22,897) seeks a full-time Public Works Manager - Wastewater in the Public Works Department. This position is responsible for overseeing the Wastewater Division and providing administrative and general management assistance to the Director of Public Works and the Public Works Department. The position is responsible for executive, managerial, and supervisory work directing the overall operations of the Village’s wastewater treatment plants, ten lift stations and sanitary collection system. The Public Works Manager manages a team of personnel and resources to efficiently and reliably provide services with a high level of customer service. Further duties include assisting the Department Director with supervising, planning, organizing, and directing the programs, activities, and operations of the Public Works Department with other departments, divisions, outside agencies, and the general public. Other primary responsibilities include: administrative duties required for the efficient operation of the division; preparation of the division’s fiscal year budgets and capital improvement programs; preparation and oversight of contractual, maintenance, and construction projects; procurement of public services and capital purchases; and administering the Department’s safety/risk management program.

Graduation from an accredited college or university, including or supplemented by a minimum of 10 years of experience in public works operations; minimum of 5 years of supervisory experience; or any equivalent combination of education, training and experience.  Desired possession of Class I Wastewater Treatment Plant Operators Certificate, or receipt of one within twelve (12) months with a minimum of a Class II Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator's Certificate at the time of application. The salary range is $92,679-$129,752 and the starting salary is dependent upon qualifications and experience.

Mechanic - Public Works Department

The Village of Roselle, Illinois (22,897) seeks a full-time Mechanic within the Public Works Department. Roselle is located in the northwest suburbs of Chicago.  The position performs skilled mechanical journey level work in the maintenance and repair of automotive, construction, and other Village fleet, equipment and related devices. The position also performs major and minor mechanical, hydraulic and electrical repairs to various types of vehicles and equipment. This position requires the ability to diagnose issues, analyze malfunctions, determine methods of repair, and strategically inspect, repair, rebuild, and maintain a variety of Village equipment including, but not limited to; cars, pick-up trucks, tractors, dump trucks, bucket trucks, backhoes, front end loaders, sewer jet trucks, skid steer loaders, snow plows, generators, saws, pumps, fire and police vehicles/equipment and other light and heavy duty vehicles and construction equipment. Ideal candidates would possess:  A high school diploma (GED or equivalent), a current and valid Illinois motor vehicle operator's license with a CDL endorsement (or capable of acquiring CDL within six months.  Minimum of of three years' automotive, mechanical or small engine maintenance or successful completion of various specialized diagnostic and repair course or an equivalent combination of training and/or experience. Desired possession of relevant Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) certifications and/or Emergency Vehicle Technician certification (as issued or recognized by ASE and/or NFPA), or receipt of within twelve months of commencing employment or transfer into position.    

This position is responsible for working approximately forty hours (40) each week with occasional overtime and weekend assignments.  The salary range is $65,643 to $88,164 and the starting salary is dependent upon qualifications and experience.  This position, which is a member of Operating Engineers, Local 150 union, receives comprehensive benefits including paid time off, pension, and health and life insurance.

Community Service Officer - Police Department

The Village of Roselle, Illinois (22,897) seeks two (2) Full-time Community Service Officers. Roselle is located in the northwest suburbs of Chicago.  The position works 12-hour rotating shifts, which includes nights, holidays and weekends with the possibility of both scheduled and/or unscheduled overtime. 

This is a uniformed civilian position within the police department. Responsibilities include working with the public, parking enforcement, ordinance investigations and enforcement, traffic accident reporting, animal control, traffic control, assisting with processing and prisoner checks, and related duties as required.  Community Service Officers are also cross-trained for limited desk relief as a back-up to police records functions. Street Maintenance Worker - Public Works Department

The Village of Roselle, Illinois (population 22,897) seeks a full-time Street Maintenance Worker in the Public Works Department.  Roselle is located in the northwest suburbs of Chicago.  This position performs a variety of tasks related to construction repair and maintenance of Village streets, storm sewer systems, landscape and tree maintenance, snow and ice control, asphalt and concrete repair, streetlight repair and other assigned activities.  This position operates a variety of equipment in the construction, operation, repair, maintenance and replacement of village infrastructure and facilities. 

The ideal candidate should have working knowledge of general public works labor activities, proper and safe construction, maintenance and repair methods, operating equipment and tools such as chipper, chain saw, end-loader, backhoe and snow and ice control equipment; knowledge of applicable traffic and safety rules; must be willing to work in a team environment and communicate effectively orally and in writing, ability to follow and understand oral instructions and perform heavy manual labor for extended periods of time, occasionally under adverse weather conditions. 

The ideal candidate would possess: A high school diploma (GED or equivalent), a current and valid Illinois motor vehicle operator's license with a CDL and appropriate endorsements (or capable of acquiring CDL within six months).  Training for CDL license will be provided. 

This position is responsible for working approximately forty hours (40) each week with occasional overtime and weekend assignments.  The salary range is $52,837 to $70,965 and the starting salary is dependent upon qualifications and experience.  This position, which is a member of Operating Engineers, Local 150 union, receives comprehensive benefits including paid time off, pension, health and life insurance.
